The Vermilion County Speedway in Danville,Il. has scheduled the following special races for 2001. Friday May 25 will pay $1000 to win and will also guarantee the winner a spot in the 8th annual $5000 to win Sunday May 27 David Richardson Memorial. Also Charleston Speedway in Charleston,Il. is paying $2500 to win Saturday May 26 with that winner also guaranteed a position in the David Richardson Memorial the following evening at VCS. The UMP Thunder and Lightning series comes to VCS in conjunction with Kankakee and Fairbury Speedways for three nights of action July 20,21 and 22 with the racing at VCS on the 22 paying $1000 to win and also a $1500 bonus to the top point man from the three nights also payed at VCS. August 31 will also be a part of a two day bonus with the second annual Labor Day special paying $4000 to win on Sunday Sep.2. The Aug.31 payoff has not yet been determined but $1000 to win is being considered. Friday night May 25 will also be a NKF (National Kidney Foundation) series race with the promoter paying $15 per car to the charity. Also the David Richardson Memorial purse has had money added to it with all the extra going on the back half of the field. Approx $1600 has been added from 10th position on down and will pay a minimum of $300 to start. Payoff below:

If he two winners from the previous nights do not make the race thru transfers they will start behind all the cars that do make the show. Also all cars receive pay and the entry fee is only $40... So make your travel plans for one of the most prestigious UMP modified races in the country and also make plans to attend VCS as much as possible in 2001. Two open practice dates are set this Sunday April 1 and also April 8 from 5 to 9pm with pit admission $10 and grandstands free. Racing begins Sunday April 15 and to all interested there will be qualifing at VCS this year for their regular nights.
