Iam running a 351w built by Rick Towers of Towers and Harwood in Manhattan, KS. I have had the engine for over 2 seasons and it is still running stronger than ever. The tranny is just a lightened 3-speed from Speedway. As for the frame I believe it was a 78 torino but i am switching to a gm frame because front end parts are easier to get ahold of.....thanks, Dallas

We also run a Ford powered Modified from Towers & Harwood Ford Performance in Manhattan, Ks. We have run a BMS Mod and a Dirtworks Mod, and have won the Track Championship the last 2 years. That Ford works great in any Modified!

I run a 351w in a 87 Crown Vic stub chassis. With a Tom Hager trans. It's just like a Bert but only Cast Iron. It was what the Bert originated off of. Marts chassis

Rockn' I never would have guessed there were so many Ford guyes out there. Nice to see it. I run 351W, On an older Ford stubbed Friedon chassis. The car tends to like a dry slick track, of course none of the tracks around here get that way. I have thought of trying a 347 setup but being we have a 2600lb rule, didn't see where it would help. Also what kind of heads you guyes running?? And what kind of a RPM range you running ?? Hope to hear from some more FORD guyes.

I run a 351W, Wade Moon chasis in Wyoming, we run on a very dry slick track probably 98% percent of the time. I have been racing modifieds since 1995 and I have finished in the top 3 in track points every year.

Wow Dallas sounds like we are both running about the same setup, car and all. You said you run around 65-6800 RPM's on a 3/8 mile track. What gear ratio you running?? Are you on American tires? And is it a tacky or dry slick track?? I'm still running and old set of '69 heads. I'm thinking of getting a set of World heads before long. Wel got to go for now.

We run the 347 in an Eagle III Mod and regularly turn it 7600-8000. Dynos @ 680 HP and 465# torque. It's our second season on this motor and it's still like brand new. We have run up front at every track we have been to so far. We also run the Eagle's Claw and have way more bite than we used to. The motor doesn't seem to mind, cause it runs cool and doesn't lug even on a tacky track. It's a great all round motor. A little too much power for the dry slicks, but just be easy on the gas.

We threw away all of our Chevy stuff cause it wasn't reliable.

Our first car was a 74 Cougar with a 351 Cleveland. We used 2bbl heads, but used a 4 bbl intake manifold. It would keep pulling all the way down the straights without running out of power. We won the championship the first season.

We are building another one now, but with an 87 Crown Vic and will put that same Cleveland in it. I should be a great car like the Cougar was. The front suspension is just much better than the older ones.

Customperformance,

What are you using for a fuel pump on the Cleveland? The biggest I have found so far is a Holley that only puts out 80 GPH at about 7 psi. Is there one out there or a modification that will give me more fuel flow. It seems to handle methanol pretty well with a 2bbl Holley 4412, but I have to run gas if I put a 4bbl on it.

Any help would be appreciated.

when i ran gas i ran the same holley pump as you , it wouldnt work with alky when i switched over. i couldnt find a alky block mounted pump and used a used hilborn belt drive from a sprint car and used a c@s regulator and a fuel log with bypass. no problems with this setup in 3 years
