I have completly stock 2.3 engine that I put toether for a back up just to get by with. IT has a d port head can I run a oval port intake with it. I have it on there and its not taking fuel well. IT has a miss and is not responsive. I was wondering if this could be why?

get a d port intake more than likely it is causing turbulance as the ovals are bigger than the d shape.

you can hold the trottle in one spot and its pretty smooth but if you try to rev it up quickly it just stumbles on its face.

yes its a 4412 built buy blake carbs runs fine on my modified 2300. Could it be tomuch carb or should I look else where. It also has an ocasionally miss or pop. Would bad fuel cause this. The fuel is race fuel probly been seeting 1 year now but smells really good.

to me it sounds like the carb needs to be correctly set up with a vacuum gauge.
