Thanks for the invite, but a 660 mile tow one way is a little too far.

Im not trying to be a tailhole. Im seriously trying to get mnore cars to come. Im getting bored running here with all the mustangs. All classes. We have street stock, pure stock, pro stock, Mod 4, Stock 4 and late models will be at Sumter Speedway. Plus a demolition derby and a power wheels race. 3/8ths mile clay, banked oval track. Needs some cars. If you think you can come and run, let me know your name and car number and all. And festy, I didnt mean to single you out, but that lil car that you run is the coolest thing I have seen since I saw a VW beetle race at Carolina SPeedway. Good luck yall and hope yall can come try me. Racerman707- If I was worried, I wouldnt have posted. Come and show me what your car has got. What car do you have?

it sure would have to have a mighty big payoff just to cover that fuel bill.probably if you got there and won they would probably disqualify you to last place over some trumped up rule so the local track favorite would win!!

Is there any person on here close to South Carolina? I didnt know yall were all so far away. Dang 600 miles, 3000 !!! Dunno about our pay. Havent heard yet. But whatever it says, WILL be payed. I have been there for 4 years now and not once have I seen the payout cut because of acr counts, and I havent seen yet a track in SC with a better payout payed each week. Where are all you guys from and what tracks and all?

We run in Central Pennsylvania with http://www.clintoncountyspeedway.com/ being our home track. I'm glad to hear your track pays what they advertise. We had an invitation to race at a nearby track that was having one of those "Memorial Races". It advertised $300 to win for the 4 cylinder class. When the race was over, they paid the winner $80 and said that was because of the low car count - 9 cars. I guess that's one reason the track isn't open on a weekly basis, but just a few times a year for special events.

LOL. Pinto!!! Are you serious? I've raced against PROFESSIONALLY built(Racing Shop Builders) Pintos on both asphalt and dirt and have yet to finish behind one. Have any of ya'll ever raced with any Honda ( Accords, Civics or preludes)? If so, let me know what you track is and if its got a website? I may just ride out to see yall once or twice next year. Dont tremble yet, its a big maybe. And for the payout, like I said in the 10 years that Mr. CL has owned the track, the payout has never, NEVER been cut. Not for any reason. I ran a class with 4 cars 2 years ago and got paid what I would if there was 20 cars. Anyways, Good luck to all yall.

About 4 or 5 years ago the 4 cylinder RWD class at our track turned into an all Mustang class except for 1 guy that ran a Pinto. I don't know what he did to it but he could hold his own against any of the Mustangs. The car had a totally different sound than the Mustangs, like he was cranking the engine a couple thousand extra rpms. The thing just screamed. This class has been discontinued at our track in favor of the higher car counts they get with the FWD 4 cylinders. Here's how the car models finished in the points for the year.
1 - Pontiac Grand Am W/Quad-4 engine
2 - Chevy Cavalier
3 - Pontiac Grand Am W/Quad-4 engine
4 - Chevy Cavalier
5 - Pontiac Grand Am W/Quad-4 engine
6 - Ford Festiva
7 - Honda Prelude
8 - Ford Escort
9 - Chevy Cavalier (not absolutely sure)
10 - Toyota (something - don't know)

The Ford probes do pretty good if the guys can keep them running long enough to finish. I think there was one Accord there for a while, but he ran about like the Probes.

where i use to run at we had a vw scirroco and a dodge daytona that ran with us. pretty fast but cost to much to run. most of the time they did not finish because of ripping the axles out.

hey no joke about the pinto here at our track rear wheel drive only but the guy thats building these cars has raced 1 for 6 years i think he could whoop up on alot of the front wheel drives with his car. car weighs 1500 lb's thats it. there fast little stroked engines.

Hey Festy..I was looking at the results you posted..How reliable were those cars with the quad 4's...Im currently looking for a car now and if anyone out there can tell me..what kind of car should I be looking 4..(i heard the quad 4's had alot of problems) Heres what we CANT run..hondas, nissans, no turbos or rotary engines, we can run a rear wheel drive..Thanks in advance.

I would say the Quad-4's have above average engine problems. I think it has to do with the high compression they have to develope the big horsepower. If the Quad-4 guys could keep their motors running, then the back hub/wheel assembly would come off of the Grand Ams. Personally, I wouldn't run one. The points standing is a little skewed because only the top 4 cars were there for every race. I know for a fact that 5th, 6th, and 7th places missed one or more races which means "0" points for that week. If we weren't running Festivas, we would probably be running a Mazda 323 or some small bodied VW. Since your track allows RWD, you might consider the little Mustangs.

That's all we run is carburetors. If you've got a good carb, you should be able to hold your own against the injected guys. Take a look at the video entitled "Last Heat". Those are 2 Quad-4's that the carbed Festiva is running with. http://www.sdfcomputers.com/festivavids.htm

You can't go wrong with the power of a VW! The injection systems (cis and cis-e) are really simple, and a carbed intake from an omni will bolt on if you wanted. I'd suggest a rabbit or scirocco. Around here Ford Escorts do pretty well for fwd, and any Totyota with a 22r for rwd.
