Alright now, how about some tips on what I need to do to get this newly aquired 2.3 ford motor to scream. Have a racer walsh block with a bad piston and one stock block to start with. Any suggestions or tips would be appreciated.

first what are your rules and how much doe do you have to spend. If you are strapped build a dependable bottom end and put the money in the head.

Must be stock appearing, same as the make of car. Must be mounted in the stock position. All domestic rear wheel driven cars must have all cast iron engines and heads. Fuel injected engines permitted (on fwd cars only) but must be stock to the make and model of the car. Rear wheel drive cars must use a stock two-barrel carburetor. Will allow Holley Carburetor 4412. No headers, must be stock exhaust manifold. Exhaust pipe 2 maximum.

If you can have a head ported and polished I would do that first. I would go with a 2.3 bottom end. I would run a weber 32/36 or the 38/38 depending if you are ported and polished and what size track. Some people to get a hold of. JD LARAMEE at laramee96@aol.com KP Lugnut or earl parker for the carb. I would not run a 500 at all. I would use the later 80s mustang manafold it looks almost like a header but it is cast. I would make the car as light but safe as possible. My cars weigh under 2200 with me and fuel. and I weigh 200. I probable would not go all out on the motor but get necessities tires suspension tuned for the track as the exhaust size is going to limit the amount the heads can flow.
