hey folks, was wondering if its advantagous to machine out the plenum area on a efi intake or leave it as the four hole deal. your thoughts would be appriciated, thanks

Im skeptical on using the efi intake. There are many who use them without problems but there are problems with them that some folks have had. Namely lean on some of the cylinders. The intakes are designed to flow air and not fuel, when a carb is attached it does not necessarily disperse the fuel evenly throughout all 4 cylinders, this can cause very critical failure of one or more cylinders. I prefer the d port carburated intakes found under the 1 bbl carbs in the early 80s. Some people are running them trouble free but some have had their problems. Hope this helps you some, and there maybe something you can do to prevent the uneven flow of fuel.

i agree with your uneven fuel distribution thoughts, i was thinking that by opening up the plenum and creating a common area that the charge would mix better and disperse more evenly. anyone tried this? thanks

we run the efi intakes on both our cars with no problems.if you are interested in running one of them,I can put you in touch with the guy who does ours.when we dynoed the motor the efi out did the other 2 intakes we tested.we ran 1 car on a dirt 1/4 mi. & another on a paved 1/2mi.

by machining out the four holes you would basically be using a carb manifold, which we have experianced uneven fuel delivery we use fuel injection manifold with and adapter for a carb with no problems
