I'm not sure how an escort rear end is but if you can, toe both rear wheels out towards the wall 1/16-1/8 inch. Run your worst tires(with least amount of tread) on the back and air them way up. The whole point here is to let the rear end slide around the corner while the front pulls you wherever you want to go. This should really help...and it's free.

What tire pressures are you running on the front & rear?

I'm not sure about running so much pressure difference on the front. I run an '89 Cavalier with 20 RF & 18~19 LF & it does a pretty good job turning corners. I'm running 30~32 RR & 28~30 LR & I'm getting the rear end around pretty good on dryslick track.

I had an oldtimer who runs 2 different cars & won track championship this year tell me that he runs 40RF, 39LF, 40RR & 38LR with no stagger. He says to loosen the rear up all he does is add a pound or two to the LR & that does the trick for him.

I have not been able to try his pressure reco's yet but I'm going to next race night to see how it will work for me. I'm thinking that even though my Cavy is cornering pretty good I'mm losing too much momentum from the lower tire pressures. You might want to give it a try yourself.

Any other "old timers" out there who might have a comment????

i have a 98 zx2 escort and i run 40-50 rf,25-30 lf, 20-25 rr, and 15-20 on lr depending on track. on my car with 205/55/15's all the way around, 1/2 toe out, heated springs and cambered right front, i found LOW PRESSURES ON FRONT DON'T WORK! about 4 laps and the car was loose on entry, tight on exit and the r.f
tire was either boiling hot or tread was gone!. Also got rid of front sway bar and got more bite in the corner. Hope this helps

On 89 beretta added about 1 1/2" to LF sway bar to add pressure to the LF tire. You want to have the rear suspension stiff and equal. You need positive caster on left side and negative caster on right side on the front tires. To get enough caster in your RF and to get tire stagger you can cut the center out of the wheel turn it around and re-weld it, will be stock wheel then. Tire pressures RF 32, LF 28-32 dependant upon track, both rear tires around

You won't get tire stagger from widening your track width by changing wheel bs.
