When I bought my new mini, I was told by the owner that running a tach was not good(battery wear? i can only assume!)
anyone agree? Or was he making excuses for the tach not being in there when I picked it up? Car was race ready !

How you gonna set your idle, etc? Run a tach, it doesn't use much electricity and is useful for figuring gear ratio's etc (if you need to change em, you'll know where your at and which direction to go).

I sometimes drive by watching the shift light on the tach. If I turned 8200 at the end of the back stretch one lap then the next lap I turned 7800 I messed up somewhere in 1&2.

Does this car have an ECM or is it carbuerated?

I've got a 2.0L Cavalier that has the ECM & I'm trying to figure out how to install a tach. Can anyone help me with this????
