What is the max. degrees advance in a stock 2.3(so it will last more than a couple of races) and what is the max for a performance one? Also what where some of you experienced guys running? ( if it's to intrusive to ask)

Im at 32 degrees and locked with a ford magneto type distributor. My piston manufacturer gave me a number 'not to exceed'. I don't know that I'd go much past that. Don't do set it by ear. For some reason, alot of guys do that and wind up setting the advance too far, and wind up blowing up. READ YOUR PLUGS OFTEN, especially at first.....they'll tell you in short order if you've messed up.

You can go more or less than 32 degrees! Depends on the max rpms you turn. If you cranking 8,200 then run closer to 38 if you are down around 6,500 then 30 degress maybe good for you. I run 30 myself.
