Does anyone know what the gearing in a 1983 ranger 4sp w/od would be. I have access to a ranger about an hour and a half away from me and trying to find out what the gears are to avoid an unneccessary trip. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also I meant to ask in my first post.
Are the distributor, head, tranny, intake, and such on a ranger 2.0 compatible with the 2.3 stuff. Im able to get the whole truck but it has a 2.0 liter and Im racing a 2.3. Thanks again

Trapper I believe that the 2.0 and the 2.3 are the same block so the distributer and the head will work on the 2.3 but let me say this if anybody knows that i am wrong please feel free to correct me also trapper is this a freebie or a buyable ranger? if its a freebie go and get it anyway. as for the tranny? it would have to be outta the truck for me to know..sorry that i couldnt be of more help.

yes they are compatable. the 2.0 is just a smaller bore. The 2.0 head is a closed chamber head that with the right person porting and polishing can be extremly fast. For more info contact JD LARAMEE at 217-412-4056 best time to get him is btwn 5-8pm central time. Later Bobby

Thanks for the advice guys and yes this is a freebee. I just hate to haul all that way and it not have anything of use for me. I will be picking it up this weekend and hopefully can use some of the parts. It is my understanding that the motor isnt locked up but hasnt ran in several years. Thanks again.
