Thinking of building a pro-4 mod. I have ran the Ford 2.3 but not the 22r.
Which engine would be best?
Thanks

Do you have any engine rules, weight limits? If not, about the largest you can go with the 22R engine is a 2600 cc. This is a very fast engine with all the head goodies. I think the Fords limit is around 2850 cc's or so. It is also a good fast engine.

I know that the 2600 Toyota engine is a stroked crank and a max bore with the block of 96 mm, same 96 mm stroke. If you can't use anything other than the stock heads, but ported The Toyota Stage 5 is almost unbeatable. The new aluminum Ford replacement head can be made into a strong head too though.

Both cars can be made to go fast and a lot of times it is just a matter of what is winning at your track and if the guys racing are willing to help you out with set ups and other stuff. Of course Just because a Ford is winning at your track doesn't mean you can't do it with a Toyota. I was the only Toyota at my track and I won the track championship twice and came in second twice. I just felt kind of lonely sometimes....lol. That was a stock size block against 2500 Fords and monster intakes. I balanced that a little though with my secret dual sidedraft Dellorto setup! Very strong.

Let us know. I am sure you will get lots of feedback on this one.

We are trying to get this class started, so at this point and time we are trying to keep the cost down. Are rule are no strockers, roller cams and steel heads (ford) We be racing with the pony stock until the mini mod numbers pick up. We are going to run min. of 2300lbs.
any more help would be nice.
Thanks, Mike

No Strokers-No roller cams. Without these two options a Toyota is the faster of the two!
