Has any one ever used a ram coupler instead of a clutch?

Yes- a ram coupler is a locked in direct drive - no slippage! Makes a big difference on starts & out of the turns. Downside, very strange to get use to. I burnt out 3 friction liners @ $100.00 each, before I got use to it. You slip it a few times, it will cost you a friction liner.

stick with a decent 7.25 single disk or a double disk clutch...........or any type of button style clutch...........couplers are not good for 4 cyl racers unless you want to replace the thing every 3 or 4 nights. Not enough bang for the hassle. Get a good low moi clutch.........qm, tilton, goldstar ect.

Goldstar is a good mini clutch! But a little pricey! If you get get away with it- (ram coupler, about 5lbs, no slippage, start it in 1st gear- speed shift into 2nd, without clutch) your ram coupler will last a long-long time!
