let me rephrase that because there is in fact a scenario in which a 2300 head will fit a 2000. some of your mid 80's rangers were equipped with a small bore engine designated the 2000. it is dimensionally the same as the 2.3 just a smaller bore size. most often when someone refers to the 2000 they are referring to the 2.0 pinto engine with solid lifters.

1st i have a 2000 short block and i have no 2000 head. there is a track that has a 50 lap race that i would like to run but the rules say no 2300. so i guess i will have to find one. thanks for the info.

ps can you do all the same stuff to the 2000 that you can to the 2300?

most definitely.of course it already has the solid lifters. the biggest improvement we see is the addition of larger intake valves and bowl blending. you'll probably want to run a little more gear with the 2.0. email me with what you are looking for as far as a head goes. i know i have at least 3 that i'm not using. i also have 2 complete engines and 2 complete pintos with full running gear. check your local bookstore - i found a cool book on modifying the 2.o and other cosworth engines. i think it is part of the " speedpro series" of books. ill look for mine and give better info later.
