Stock 2.3 ford has no where near 140 hp. What are they going to do, dyno everyone? Rules are rules. But they have to know how to enforce them. The wheelbase rule of 100 the mustang will work. Pinto won't. Pinto is 95 or so.

If they dyno then I would get pretty wicked with the engine. Takes a good 2.3 to have 140 horses. Alot of people think they have more than that but I would fair to say they don't.

Isn't the 2.3l Ford motor equal to 140 CUBIC INCHES? I wonder if they mean CI and not HP....

NO I THINK THEY ARE TRYING TO ELIMINATE DOHC MITSU'S AND QUAD 4'S AND THE LIKES. THEY ARE GONNA LOOK UP YOUR MAKE AND MODEL IN A BOOK AND GO BY FACTORY SPECS AND IT CANNOT EXCEED 140 HP. ALSO I HAD TO EDIT MY QUESTION IT IS 100 INCH WHEELBASE MAX.

OK. "Gotcha" I'd eliminate those high hp foreign things too. Sounds like a good rule.

A 2.3 won't make 140 horsepower? Sounds funny to me.

We race at Perris Auto Speedway in So Cal - 1/2 mile banked clay. If you don't have a FWD car that is in the 130 -140 hp range, you are not competitive. Point winner last year was an Accura Intergra (1.6L), second was a Ford Probe.

Our rules say any 4 cyl, with a WB less than 102, 1990 or older.

Our current car we are building is a Honda Prelude - 2.0L DOHC, 130HP.
