I just bought a 84 celica GT-S and it has an independant rear suspension with limited slip dif. Has anyone ever used one of these? Should I yank it out and stick a solid rear Dif in? If I run the independant, do I need to stiffen or block the RR spring?
Thanks for any input.

That is an interesting sub. I couldnt tell ya what to do. If it was me i think i would be curious about the independent and try it out. But if you want to start out competitive the solid is most likely the way to go b/c its proven. If anyone has tried it let me know im curious.

I would run the independent suspension. Run a little heavier springs on the rear and go fast.

Why not try the independent first, its already in the car. I would be on the lookout for a solid rear end just incase the independent doesnt work. If you do swap it out, it shouldnt be to hard to sell that independent setup, those are getting hard to come by now a days. Good Luck and let us know what you decide...

Thanks for the info Joe... This is going to be my wifes car... so It will be a while before she gets too hard on it. I am going to run the Independant to see what happens. I hope she doesn't pass me! hahaha

Go on 4M.net and post the question for dentman. He runs that setup in Canada. Track champion last year.
He knows Toyotas.
