Somebody refresh me on this: If you put taller tires on the car than what you have on it right now, does that raise or lower your final drive ratio? We are going to be running on at least four, maybe 5 different sized tracks(1/6, 1/5, 1/4, 3/8, and maybe 1/2)and I was wondering how many different sized tires I should buy.

Tire size does not change gear ratio. But a larger tire will run your motor slower and smaller tires will run your motor faster. For a 1/4 to 3/8 you can switch tires with good results, other than that you will be looking for gear changes.

It will lower your ratio,i.e. you will turn fewer rpm on a given the taller the tire becomes.

IF YOU HAVE A 7:1 GEAR RATIO THEN YOUR TIRES WILL TURN 7 TIMES, WEATHER YOU HAVE A 10" TIRE OR 20" TIRES. THE RATIO OF GEARING DOES NOT CHANGE. HOWEVER THE DISTANCE TRAVELED WILL CHANGE. YOUR RPM WILL INCREASE WITH SMALLER TIRES AND LARGER TIRES WILL DECEASE RPM.
