Call me stupid but......

What advantage is gained by switching an alternator on/off at a whim?

ok if you swicth it on it'll pull harder taking more hp than when off it'll drag less using less hp.i dont like dragin a charger with every weekend with a generator to keep it up every round id rather flip a swicth and charge it up much less hastle

naw its just not at 13.8 volts like it should be when its on itll be like 12-13 after a while itll run down till dead thats why ya just flip it on and bring it back up

the hp you lose from letting it charge will be given back by the extra voltage and amps that the ignition receives and makes the hp in return. leave it on and not worry about charging the battery during the week

**** a properly working regulator turns it off when your battery is charged so why add a switch to do the same job??

I agree with gonfast and USAUS. Just could not see any valid reason for switching the alt batt output.

To each his own I guess.
