just wanderin if the timin belt gos out on a rock stock 2.3 think its an 87 model will it bend the valves? i know on my 81 it didnt not sure on the newer ones tho.thanks for any info

That depends on how many rpm's the engine is turning when the belt takes a hike. I have seen them bend at high rpm's and then I have seen them not bend any valves, too. So flip a coin and you will be as close as anyone else.

it depends on the cam lubes and how much is taken of the head(shaved).I have had one go with 50 thousandths off and it didn't do any damage.

ok ya this thing never ben apart so its got stock cam and never shaved.belt broke just after start up so i dont think they bent ill go buy the car and put the belt on rite!

I would not worry about it if now mods have been done.
