Not yet, but I'm building a fwd '91 Honda Civic project car for Stock Car Racing magazine. Basic rules: Holley 2v, any single cam, headers, stock suspension points, and 1 pound per cc. Projected budget is $2500. Labor - unlimited.

Cars is about 4 weeks away from track. Will be 4 articles in SCR. I sure have a lot to learn on this one! SLEEPY

At my track a guy in the bomber class raced a fwd car and it was pretty fast. He was always up there with the big dogs and even won a few races.I guess fwd hooks up better.

Out here inOregon a few years ago we had a guy running a dodge omni that was ungodly fast,he would go into the turns without lifting and just drive through a big push with the rear end bouncing all around this way and that(It wasnt prtty at times)boy was he fast .This guy won 13 races that season in a field of 30 plus cars on average ,and he was cosistantly beating guys with the high doller eslinger engines!.....I think he got his cylinder head from a s.c.o.r offroad truck that was changing equipment.....look around and you may find good used parts from a diferent form of auto racing at an afordable price.....good luck!

Been running a 1600cc Dodge Colt against 2400cc Mustangs and Pintos - havent won one YET but we can run with the bigger guys. Its just a matter of time. As for corners - what corners?? Foot down and dont lift. Man we have been given them a hard time.

On our first outing we were beaten by a MUstang BUT it took him 6 laps to catch us and the last two to get past. He catch me on the straight but I'd leave him in the corner - until I drifted a little high on the last corner.

My buddy just built an Acura Integra mini. 1600cc engine and it weighed 2400 lbs. Ha, he finished building it 2 hours before the races. That thing was purty fast, got 2nd place in the main and that was just cuz he hit 1st when he was shifting into 3rd. If a yellow flag didn't come out he and I would have finished 1st and 2nd, I dont know which one 1st or 2nd though, I passed him for the lead with 3 laps left when he hit 1st on accident, then half a lap later yellow flag came out. On the restart the 3rd place car jumped the gun and they let it go, I ended up 4th since I took it easy cuz my car overheated during the yellow laps, and he got 2nd due to ANOTHER misshift He is a pretty experienced driver though, track champ from last year in a stroker mustang.

Hi,I am in the final stages of building a '93 Pontiac LeMans for dirt track racing at LA raceway in LaMonte Missouri. The car only has a 1.6L motor in it,but the car without me in it only weighs 1,800 lbs,so I think it will be competitive next year.I was wondering how many cars other tracks across the country are getting? We have been having atleast 25-33 cars on a weekley basis.

If anyone is interested in buying a fwd car, I've got a Dodge Charger Shelby for sale. The car has been gutted and a cage installed but needs finished. Two engines are available. A 2.2 built with all-Mopar Racing parts and the stock 2.2 that has been rebuilt to use as a spare. Will separate car from engine(s). Mopar's "2.2-2.5 FWD" performance book too. It shows various engine and chassis builds for circle-track, drag and road-racing.

Write for details and photos.
Thanks!

I'm runnin an '86 Daytona on a 1/4 mile dirt track in Nevada. The class is called GEN-X. 4 banger front pullers only. Engines must remain stock, no multi-port fuel injection unless the engine is 1.8 ltrs or less. I'm runnin a carbed 2.2, and runnin in the top 3 or 4 each race in a field averaging 16 cars.
It's a fun class and affordable to us workin stiffs.

Yeah, I raced a Chrysler LeBaron from about the middle of this season on, ran mid-pack. Blew it up two weeks ago, just when it starting running really good. Going to start building a Dodge Daytona here in the next week or so, and use the LeBaron as a backup car, or we may end up selling it, not sure yet.

I drive a fwd on dirt!! Its alot of fun! But i need to spend more time in my #1 race car. So if anyone is interested I have my fwd up for sale cheap! It is ready to go has roll cage and seat . It was the track champ last season. I got into it late in the season this year and it was my first year in fwd. But i did finish 9th in points and in most races finished 3ed but with a good fwd driver it could go to the front again. It is a stock buick regal gran sport . extra tires and wheels go with it . $875.00

No, I'm a spectator. I would love to race, but I don't have a car & my wife says I have to get rid of my old truck before I can think about buying a car. Do you have any pics of your car?

No not as of now ..But you are very welcome to come and look at it at any time. I will take a picture of it and send to you.Maybe be next week tho. We are trying to get another engine put in my pinto for this weekend. Do they have a fwd class there? This car is so easy to drive ..In fwd all you do is floor it and steer and stay high on the track. In the fwds .you have to get up to full speed and keep up the speed. Fwd is so fun.. I have enjoyed it so much. I just want to race my pinto more so I wouldent have time for the fwd. It has a 6 cylinder , fuel injection and is automatic.

Dodge Neons are the speed demons in these parts. Crank the rev limiter up to 7000 rpm, change out the air temp sensor, shave the head, and find the tire pressure it likes.

I race a 2.5L Dodoge Daytona on dirt; and so far am doing pretty well. It is my rookie year; and I have won 9 races in it so far...My husband and brother in laws also race FWD's on dirt; AND 2 of my sister in laws ( can you say FAMILY SPORT?? ). Anyway, there are so many different cars that you can run and you can usually get them pretty cheap. My husband is running a Dodge Omni, he was running a VW Gulf ( temporarily out of comission ), and last year he won points championship with a Ford Tempo....FWD are really taking off in a lot of places and it is a great race to watch as well as drive in. We race at Spring City Speedway here in Rhea County Tennessee ( Their website is www.geocities.com/springcityspeedway ). We also have a sight of our own if you want to check out a few pics. It is www.geocities.com/godseyracer

I hope to move up in a few years, but for now I really enjoy where I'm at! Let me know how it goes.
