Hello All, I want to build a S10 mini stock. This will be my first. All the information I have read indcates the stock motors will not hold up at high rpm's. Can this be overcome or should think about building somethingelse? Are they hard to get performance parts for? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks, Ron

The front end is pretty good on the S-10 and I have seen one that used to run around NW Ar. that was fast the kid driving it was just 14 at the time and he won a lot of races.....That 2.5 has been raced for yrs and there should be alot of parts available for them and there are some guys on here who can hook you up with the right parts...also ask about some pontiac V8 parts that might interchange Im thinking some stuff out of a 301 may fit as well as some other GM parts interchanging as well good luck....Towman

The only problem I know with them is there oiling system. It just plain ***** . I have saw some fast chevy's but you have to figure something out with the oiling systems. BObby

Towman, I am in the Navy stationed in Maryland but I am from NW Arkansas. I was home a couple of weeks ago and watched a S-10 eat my brothers Mustangs lunch. This truck is now being raced in Centerville AR. but I believe it came from Crowford County where it took first place three years in a row. Could this be the same truck?
Some guys at the track said it had a pontiac iron duke in it. Is that the same as the Chevy 2.5?
Thanks,Ron

Yes thats the one,and the 2.5 and the iron duke are one in the same....The truck in particular that I was refering to was a blue S10 the # was 1/4 and the boys name was Brandon Hunter thats how impressed I was with the little truck I still remember it years later....Towman

You might want to contact 22Dodge over on the www.4M.net mini stock forums. He has a complete Chevy Vega with a huge number of spare parts and engines for sale. Link to photos. Delivery too. It's not an S-10 but it is a Chevy.

22Dodge builds 'em right too!
