my brother runs a 2300 std. bore engine in his mini stock. new motor we just put together. after the first 2-3 laps he keeps shearing all of the flywheel bolts. tried different crank and flywheel, the last time we were just reving the motor up in the drive way and they all broke. happened 3 times already.

he said that hes using used flywheel bolts every time. i think we torqued them to about 45ft. could be wrong. (we used a book to get torque specs.)

If you are putting in used that could be your problem and I think that I torque mine around 65 or so I also go buy the book but I do not have it infront of me. everytime you use a bolt it stretches the threads and with these four cylinders there is a lot of vibrations. SO anywho I would try some new ones BObby

are you making sure you are using "manual tranny"flywheel bolts, the "automatic tranny"bolts are a little bit shorter, but will "torque in",but only have 4 or 5 threads holding, they will fail under racing conditions, under hot laps hopefully, not in the race.
