HEY ALL, HOPE ALL IS WELL.
I HAD A QUICK QUESTION, JUST WANTED TO KICK AROUND THE FOURM. I CUT THESE 2 BOTTOM ENDS (POSTED BELOW) OUT FROM RACER WALSH. WHAT'S THE MAJOR DIFFERECES HERE? (BESIDES THE $600) I RUN THE LONG ROD MYSELF, BUT THE 2 OR 3 MUSTANGS THAT KICK A-- AT MY TRACK EVERY WEEK APARENTLY HAVE THE "STROKER". THESE CARS FLY, I'D SWEAR THEY HAVE A 5.0L UNDER THE HOOD. JUST WONDERING/LEARNING--THX MUCH...

a 2500cc combo is great for long tracks where you can really motor on.useless though if you dont have a little head work done to improve the flow to feed this bottom end.the rotating assembly is slightly heavier than the 2300 which seems to hurt a little on smaller 1/4 mile tracks.as far as the 2500 you are considering,STAY AWAY from the hyperexplosive pistons and if your turning over 7000rpm get a little better rod.i have built several strokers and the 2500 light crank cut with a large radius and bearings to match, crower billet or at least a sportsman 5.7" rod and a good wiseco or je pistons will get the job done and give you great dependability when assembled right.try calling race engineering though, from experience they have a much better quality product line.hope this helps.

if you get the stroker do not get the 5.2 rods go with a longer rod like a 5.7 also you can make anything fast. The most power is in the head. JD Laramee done my head and the son of a gun is fast.

THX BOBBY & JOYRACER
GOOD INFO. I'M NOT LOOKING TO GO W/ THE 2500 STROKER, I JUST PUT A NEW 2300 LONG ROD IN MY CAR-- I JUST WANTED TO GET SOME KNOWLEDGE ON THE DIFFERENCES. I RUN ON A 1/4 MILE TRACK SO SOUNDS LIKE MY BOTTOM END IS ALL RIGHT. SO AS FOR THE "HEAD IS WERE THE POWER IS" ANY SUGGESTIONS. I HAVE A STOCK HEAD SHAVED .145, STOCK CAM PACKAGE. I'VE SEEN SOME ON RACER WASLSH (POSTED BELOW)
duration@.050" valve-lift
#3 274 .535
#3roller 268 .608

DO I WANT TO GO W/ MORE LIFT(ROLLER) OR MORE DURATION? AND WHY?
ALSO SEEN SOME "CHEATER-VALVES"(OVERSIZED) WHAT'S THE DEAL W/ THEM? THEY ARE MORE IMMEDIATELY AVAILABLE $ WISE IF IT WOULD BE WORTH IT?
THX AGAIN

if you go with a big cam like over a .500 lift you need to get longer valves. Go roller solid. Also call schnieder cams and talk to Jerry they have a web sight and they are good. Have you had a port and polish done yet what kind of head are you using. what kind of intake and what kind of carb. It is all one unit not a bunch of single ones you need to have them all working to together and then you will be bad fast. Just my .02 Good racing BObby

I'M RUNNING A HOLLY 350 (IT'S WHAT PARKER RECOMENDED)HAD IT RE-BUILT AT LOCAL CARB SHOP-IT'S PERFORMING PRETY GOOD. I HAVE THE D'PORT INTAKE THAT'S BEEN BORED AND POLISED OUT, GOOD FUEL FLOW. AS FOR THE TYPE HEAD, NOT SURE--CAME WITH THE CAR, HAD A SMALL NICK IN IT , SO THUS THE SHAVING OF .145 .. BESIDES THAT HEAD IS ALL STOCK, I'LL CHECK THAT WEB SITE AND SEE WHAT I CAN PUT TOGETHER FOR A NEW HEAD PACKAGE. THX AGAIN

on the intake side of the head look and see if it is a D shape or oval or circle. I doubt it will be the circle. But it can be either one of the others. What I have been told is stock head use the D port but there is 2 different ones and the only way to tell that I know is to look at the combustion chamber. if it looks like a heart then it is closed and that one does not flow as well if it looks like a D then it is an open chamber and is the best one for stock and mild work. The Oval with the efi D port intake they say is the 2nd best combo to run with a good port job. And if you want to know what mine is then just pm me. IT takes a lot of work to do mine but is well worth it. BObby
