I have a small problem with what seems to be a vacuum leak, or at least acts like one. I am running a Racer Walsh stage 3A cam, stock crank and rods with KB pistons. Head milled 135 thousandths, large valves installed. I cant get this engine to idle!! I can block off about half of the carb. air inlet and it raises the rpm and I can idle it down then. I have checked for vacuum leaks with WD40 and with propane, can't find one. I have been through carb. twice, changed jets 3 times, now have in 72 jets. I checked compression 1 & 2 have 185, 3 & 4 have 175. What else could cause it?

Im not sure but your idle circuit and your jets are not the same. Your jets take over when the accellerator is pushed. Your idle circuit is probably clogged. You may also check your carb gaskets for leaks, this would also make it tough to idle. When you rebuilt carb did you use a chemical vat?? That would be my next try if it were me. Hope this is some help to you.
