Largely, there only three different Mustangs to choose from. Mustang II's were made from 74-78, Fox Body Mustangs were made from 79-93, and SN95 Mustangs were from 94-now. The Mustang II has a leaf spring rear suspension with with a double a arm front suspension. The Fox Mustangs have a simplified 4 link rear suspension with a MacPhereson Strut front suspension. The SN95s are basically an updated verion of the Fox Bodies. Over the years there are many subtle differences, but it should be noted that almost everything is interchangeable between the different Fox cars and the SN95s. There are different advantages to all of these cars.

Although I personally race Mustangs, there are much better choses for racecars. A lot of it depends on personal preference and what is available to you. A Ford Probe may be a good choice. If you want to stick to a RWD, a Pontiac Fiero would make for a unique and interesting project. The GM Quad 4 engine is fairly common and from what I've heard is popular in pure stock type classes. If you want to really confuse your competition, you could show up with a 3L Chevy II. A Dodge Conquest would be a good choice, too. Be creative and you might find a winner.

i would go w/ the stang 2300. i know the rules say "stock" so do mine. but thier is alot you can do to the 2.3 to "beef it up" and still look "stock". you'll see it when your on the track, you'll say "there'S no way that's guy's stock" and you will be right. well-good luck, and have fun
