I am having a very difficult time pulling the axle out of one side of the rear dif. So far I have pulled the PS side out and tried to get the DS one out but it is really stuck! I think it is the outer bearing... I tried bolting the tire on and hitting the tire with a sledge... that did not work... I don't have a puller handy or I would have started with that... Has anyone had to deal with this before??? BTW it is a 83 Celica 8" rear

I had the same problem with my Nissan and found out that my housing was bent.I had to use a axle puller and really beat the sh*t out of it,it ended up ruining my wheel studs. So good luck.

Speeronline, put your brake drum on backwards then put your lug nuts on a few threads.Push it all the way on the axle then jerk it back, may shock it enough to break the axle loose. JPR

Thanks for the info!! I used 1/2" allthread and stuck it through the alxe hub and put a nut on the back and unscrewed it.... worked like a charm... Used a lot more thought after the sledge slipped and hit myself in the side of the knee **ouch**
I ran in the last race of the season here today and finished but not in the top 10... after welding the rear I had to learn how to handle it again... spun in turn 2 three times!!!
