well where we race we dont run alt and i got rid of the eletric fan and i got more hp and if u get rid of the alt u also get more hp and what happend was going out of the turn with the eletric it cut out and shut off so we got rid of that and never had the problem again but if u have an electric fan u keep the heat down and u dont over heat as munch but i dont worry about that

just remember that every time you add a pully you take away some h.p. we never run a alt. we have run an electric fan but we put in the biggest batt. we could find with the most cranking amps. a good marine batt. ran fan, elec. fuel pump, never any problems just make sure its fully charged every week.

is it possible to run a gm type high output single wire alt on a ford 2.3? would there be any advantages to this? i would think it would cover electric fan, battery, and ignition.

I run an duel electric fan with an alt and have never had a problem with either overheating(go figure, duel fan) or my bat.
