Which head makes the most power, a 20R or a 22R? Have a 0 deck height rule so am using a 1985 22RE engine. Not sure which head to use. The 22R head is a FI head.

Stick with the re head. unless you are using after market pistons the re head works a little better due to the bigger valve size. and the fact that it is a close chamber. if you run after market pistons with a dome then run the 20r head but get the valve seats redone to accept the 22r valves to help with flow.

the 20r head flows like 180 cfm the carbed 22r head flows 270 cfm and the FIed 22r head flows 500 cfm. this is what i was told by a few toyota guys
