For starters, I would suggest picking up a copy of Steve's Smith's Stockcar chassis book. This would be a great resourse especially for a newby. Next, try to have your car scaled. Weights and percentages are key. I could suggest you move some weight or change a spring or ride height, but it wouldn't do you much good if we don't know where your at now. Try to get the car scaled and establish a base line.

Talk to someone at the track who has scales, or visit you local chassis builder. Most mod guys have scales or access to them. Ask around, you will find someone willing to help.

Is this a used car that was raced before, or is this one your building?

I built the car about 2 1/2 years ago and raced it about 15 to 20 times .I have done alot of stuff like cut off the springs, stiffened the right front . The car handled pretty good when it was under powered but done a little motor work now the car doesn't run as well But i really don't know the basic to set up a dirt track car and I have looked at the Steve's Smith's set up books but i didn't know if it would help me with a toyota so i didn't buy any . I run Hoosier dirt track tires. Everything i have done to it has been back yard work . I am racing on a budget i just want to have fun but want to be competive c I can't keep up with the Ford guys. Thanks again i appreciate the help

The reason I suggested the Steve Smith books is because you could learn a little about things like stagger, bump steer, wedge, roll center, scrub radius, etc. and how to manage them. No matter what car you use, these priciples apply. You mentioned you mentioned you have done a little motor work and it doesn't run a good. Handle? Explain what probs you having now.

we used to run the same thing in a corolla
if your having steering trouble try the suspension from a celica and a rear end the rear end fits right in but you have to do some modifications to put all the suspension from a celica
