The Hoosier Tires you are talking about should not be legal. These tires are mad specifically for racing. Retreads are tire that are made of used sidewall and racing specific treads. The major companies that make them are Diamondback and Towel City. The biggest limiting factor is the sidewall. Generally they use any stock sidewalls that they can get. This can lead to very stiff and inconsistent sidewalls. I have been told that these companies will make tires using sidewalls you provide. You could therefore send them racing tire sidewalls and have them put their tread on them. This should be technically legal. Your competitors may not like you for it, and it may take some convincing with tech inspection, but isn't that one of the things that makes racing fun.

Ran Towel cities years ago--very soft then, could burn a right rear off in a 50 lapper! Hoosiers are not recaps. May have as many as 10 hoosiers for sale very soon.
