I like the 4 speed better personally. It's lighter and I haven't had any problems with it. I'm guessing your talking about the T5 from a later model mustang. One thing I have noticed, 3rd gear seems to be the weakest part of that unit to me. I have broken 6 or 8 of them. Usually pulls about 4 teeth off the gear and then destroys the countershaft. I think it would be better to run in 4th or 2nd even, but if your not having problems with it breaking it not a big deal. I don't remember the ratios for the 5 speed right off the top of my head. As far as being sluggish off, do you think you could put in some more gear with a smaller tire. Would save changing the rear gear or tranny. What kind of RPM are you seeing at the end of the straight?
