I just got a Mastersbilt Late Model and it has a Franklin Quickchange rear end in it. I was wondering if the Winter's and Franklin's parts are interchangeable. Also what type of lube do you recomend using in it?m Also any advice on the maintenance of this type of rear end other than the usual nut and bolt check. I was also wondering if these types needed to have the oil seal's in them to keep the lube in the third member? Thanks, Kent

I'm new to this quickchange stuff having just bought a lm this fall but I've already had my winters q/c apart. We'll be running the royal purple synthetic gear lube.
My winters had the seals to keep the gear lube in the center section. Don't know about the compatibility between brands.

Check and adjust the ring gear backlash at least every other week and use locktite on it to keep it from backing off.

Ego, I suspect that adjustment is made with the roller bushing that presses up against the back face of the ring gear?
