Running on alky and want to run without a shroud, any problems with doing this? and, how far from the radiator should the fan be?

I have run methanol with no fan and now use the 15" plastic fan and like it but too close will allow the fan to flex and take the core I use about 1 1/2" as a safe margin. Why turn any more weight than need to?

Take that plastic fan and toss it as far as you can! Those things almost cost me a race more than once. They'll flatten out and you'll never see it happen. If you have one, they recommend replacing it every 5th race. The new 4 blade steel fan from GM (not sure of the part number) available from Poske's is unreal! I have never seen a fan pull this much air! On gas with no shroud and 1/2 to 3/4 inch from rad. spacing, our water temp struggles to get past 175 degrees. If I'm wrong, then so is the entire starting field at any Hav-A-Tampa show!
