when building a tandem axle trailer, how far back from center do you place the centerspring hanger? what would be a good length for the tongue? the trailer will be 20ft. thanks.....later

mine is one foot back of center of the bed of the trailer not including the tongue. So if it's a 20 foot trailer with a 3 foot tongue the bed is 17 feet and the center spring hanger will be 8 feet from the rear

If I remember right the formula is like 60% of the length,so if you have a 20' trailer that would put the axels at around 12' back.
Just measuring the deck not including the tounge.

I have always used 1" back per foot of trailer. But I haven't built anything over 16-18 feet. A 20 or over may get tongue heavy.
