I need to rebuild my Ford 6-cylinder 300ci in my truck, its just plain lost alot of its get up and go. Its a 1993 F-150. IO can tell the lifters need to be replaced, valve springs and valves prolly need re-done too.

Where can I buy a rebuild kit?

Now im open to suggestions on what to do, Im just figuring it needs a rebuild, if somone else has any ideas I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Go to http://www.northernautoparts.com/Products.cfm?CategoryId=94&DisplayImages=0 . click on the link with your year/engine, cheapest kits with best quality I've ever found, plus, if you just call them, you can order exactly what you want instead of the entire kit if you don't need entire thing.

When I do a rebuild, I replace the cam and lifters, and have the heads sent to the machine shop and let them fix or replace whatever needs done to them.

Depending on how many miles is on the engine...I'd definently change out the cam and related parts.....

Is this the same motor with the temperature problem? If so fix that first. I had a ford like that no heat, no temp, ran crummy, changed the thermostat and bam it was as good as new! lots of power and fuel economy came back.

We use the Ford 300 eng. To pump natural gas out of the wells they run 24/7 change oil every 250 hours. They usally run about 5yrs before we have to rebuild them.

James Ott is dead ?@$s on! That engine is almost bullet proof. With 75K its no where close to needing a rebuild. Its a 93 so its fuel injected, if its not getting up to normal operating temp, then the computer is staying in open loop. I have seen the 4.9L go 250K-300K with no problem.
