just picked up a 1990 dually and i want to add a cheap but effective overdrive behind the muncie thats in it. anyone got any good ideas of what to use to accomplish this the least expensive way.
need to boost highway mileage

Look in truck magazines like the ones you buy at grocery stores and walmart. I have seen many adds in those for overdrives.

There are several companys that make add on
overdrives. here is acouple sites.

& I know there are others.
problem is I don't know how cheap they will be . your best bet may be to transplant an over drive tranny in it.

gear vendors overdrive is the caddy of aux transmissions, but at 3500$ it may be worth more than your truck. a r&p ratio change may be the way to go, provided you have enough engine to start out from a stop without burning the clutch or slush box(sic).
