I've got a '93 K25 that had the 6.5 turbo engine. The odometer show 280,000 miles when the front snout broke off of the crank. It had started using some oil, but still ran good. The crank breaking was probably mostly my fault. The ring on the dampener came loose and I didn't know it was the problem until I had run it too long that way. I put on a used dampener and it also came apart. Then put on a new one, but I think the crank was already weakened. This Pickup had 4.10 gears and I pulled a 20,000 plus stock trailer with it. Usually could run 60-70 mph easily on the level. Long grades would drag it down some. Pulling the stock car it would hold 75 with no problem at all.

Ive got a 93 dually with the 6.5, im in the same boat, read all kinds of bad stuff about them. Mine has 217,000 miles on it with no problems yet.The most common problem seems to be with the PMD(pump mounted driver) located on the injector pump.Common sign of this failing is engine stalls after engine is warm and this part gets heat in it.Here is two great links for anyone who owns a 6.5
