I just got a used trailer that has a few issues. One being a slight rub on the inside of the wheel well for one tire. It currently has 8-14.5 mobile home tires on it. My question is can I swap these out with 7-14.5's and possibly solve this issue? Any other suggestions?

Thanks for your help.

Thanks Joe, One more clarification, can a 7-14.5 fit on a 8-14.5 rim? I wasn't sure if there was a difference.

Go to a place that moves transports and installs mobile homes. They often have a pile of wheels/tires. The more they have it seems the cheaper they get. You will find several different sizes. I have found them to be cheap enough I never take one off the rim, I just go get another wheel tire unit. SLEEPY

My trailer came with mobile home axles but are 5x5.5 bolt pattern. I dumped the hockey puck tires (7x14.5) and went to real 15inch wheels and tires. Are your rims lugs or the "wedge block" type? Those ten ply trailer tires do dry out and crack when they sit in the sun.

15a I think you have travel trailer axles rather than mobile home axles. They work fine. The 5 1/2" pattern is the same as some older Ford pickups I think.

One other thing, the mobile home hubs are the same bolt pattern as a WIDE 5 race car wheel which is also the same as a '37 Ford passenger car. You can buy the wide 5 center and put it in any rim you want. As I recall it takes some grinding to get the wide 5 to sit flat on the hub. SLEEPY
