what size generators do all you guys use? i just got a 94 gmc topkick satallite news truck(the news trucks with the big dish on the back) but anyways i am woundering what size generator i should use? i would like to be able to power an enclosed's lights and a welder? and an air compressor? would a 7000 watt one work?

i've got a hobart champ gasoline powered welder. it has a built in 3500 watt AC generator.....works like a champ!

i already have a 220 mig and a miller tig. so i would like to be able to use the mig at the track, just roll it into an enclosed and use it at the track.

hey zero , i have a 220 volt mig that i run off of a 5000w generator without problems. just keep the cord feeding it as short as possible ,

Take a look at the power ratings for the items you want to run. Add all of them up if you plan to run everything all at the same time and that will tell you how much generator you need. Power(Watts)= Current(Amps) x Voltage(volts). (P=IV).
