I have a 88 chevy 1 ton 4 door 4x4 single rear wheel with a 454 4 speed 205 transfer case and 4.56 gears. I want to put in a 5 speed to make it more highway friendly. I think the nv4500 came in the 90's 3/4 and 1 ton trucks. What would have to be done to swap this tranny in? Any input would be great.

ive done simaler swaps with 4x4's before and the easyest way i found is to find a donner truck ie crash victum and use all the 4x4 stuff like trans and case with the drivelines and save the axles for spares ya never no when ya might get the urge to do a lil off roadin and brake something or you can save a few bucks and time just get one of those overdrive units that either fits at the end of the trans or gos between the bell and trans but your bell shuold be atached with the od unit you have to build new drivelines tho also hope this helps if your interested in the od unit check out this site http://www.drivetrain.com/overdrive.html?o=0
