It's the old debate. I bought an enclosed 24' used got a good deal, and am now thinking of going back to an open unit, I have never used the enclosed but I run a street stock and think it is "not right" to tow a street stock with an enclosed. also the money diference would come in handy right now. How much harder are they to tow, gas usage, upkeep, etc?

I have been kickin' it around myself...I have a good open but I see enclosed having the advantages of; SECURITY, CARGO CAPACITY, WINTER STORAGE and a place to hang out if it rains...

If you have one I think they are the way to go, you can keep all of your "just for the track" stuff in the trailer all week, all the stuff you bring in and out of the garage you can make a spot for so you don't forget it. The down side is the milage on my 454 dually drops by half ( to 6 or 7 mpg)when I was pulling my 24' enclosed with a regular flat front. Up keep on the trailer is pretty similar to the open, adjust brakes, pack wheel bearings once a year, But you have to buy trailer tires, regular car tires don't seem to hold up to the extra weight of the enclosed.

I'd never go back to an open trl for alot of the same reasons racinrick1 stated. It's nice to be able to pull in somewhere in the middle of the night and not have to worry about my car or I now have the choice to leave it in the trl til the next day and not have to worry about it. I use it as a "selling" point to potential sponsors and their just so much easier to keep organized. It's one of the best investments I've made in years!

The enclosed makes the trip home easier. You just get out and go in the house. You can also store ALOT more stuff to take to the track. Your tires dont get sunburned either.
That being said; There is something really cool about a real fast racecar on an old school open trailer!

i'm an open man myself tho these guys have some good points i like open because i do everything myself so it's nice to be able to just pull into the car wash and not have to unload the car, mine has an open floor so i can change oil while the car is still on the trailer, i don't have to sweep out my open trailer. if you want the best of bolth world you can builsd one like my uncle did for a freind of here here's a pick and by the way it's for sale too still i believe
