Ok i am rebuilding my neighbors stock 350 for his nova.

Stock crank, x-rods, and hyper pistons.

What kind of clearances should i be looking at on the mains and rods for this motor.

Has mild cam, and the pontiac double humps. heads are already redone stainless valves, screw in studs, guideplates,etc...

He had them done elsewhere...they put in stock spring replacements. Will stock springs work for a 0.465 int./0.465 exh. lift and a 224 int./224 exh. duration at 50??

THat is basically the 350hp 327 cam.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Derek

.001-.003 mains and rods.

I would upgrade to the Z28 style spring. $40 and they work well to .500 lift.

I didn't know Pontiac made a double hump head?
LOL

On the street you run a little different clearances.

Rods .002 and mains .00225 keep it tight it'll last a while.

Spend the extra $60 bux and order a set of .600 lift springs/retainers and locks. Well worth the money.

Make sure you get the valve spring pressures set, on the nose and open.

Never seen them before, and must not be a very high HP head if they haven't been talked about on here yet.

I wouldn't call them humps merely on the fact that they have "humps" on the sides.

The HP will not be dictated by what you've listed, but what camshaft is in it.

The 370 head is just like the 186 hump heads that wre used in the late '60s early '70s.

HP and driveability will also change when you s**** the Edelbrock carb and get a more HP-friendly and tunable Holley on there...
