Is their enough material on the valve cover seal surface of Vortec heads to drill and tap holes so you can run the old style (non center bolt) valve covers? Just curious if this was possible - playing with some ideas in my head and have heard horror stories of the expensive valve cover adapters leaking. Thanks.

I once had the crazy idea of making the old style covers fit on vortec heads. A little reinforcment where the bolts go through the middle and a lot of gasket in a tube around the perimenter for good luck???

I believe that if you took your time, you might could J-B Weld a shortened coupling nut to the inside of the valve cover rail.
Or...maybe build up a spot with a welder large enough to drill and tap.

Diff places sell them that way allready.

Just drill and tap, and put in a stud with some epoxy.

I have a set of Vortecs that have had extra material welded onto the Valve cover rail then drilled and tapped to use the older style Valve covers.
