I hate to burst your bubble, but there's a good chance that the guys beating you just handle better. I'd put my $$$ into tires springs shocks offset wheels, getting the car scaled. I have been down the road of cheater chasing and the harsh reality of this is in pure stock racing, unless you can hold it flat foot all the way around, you don't need more power. If I had half the money I've spent trying to make more power and spent it on reliability and handling, I'd have more trophies on the shelf!

If you are sure a lot of the guys cheat then you must know how they are cheating and can do the same stuff to your car.

spend your time on making the car handle good. one of the hardest parts of racing is getting the power onto the track efficiently. what i'm trying to say is get the car to handle, get the motor built to the maximum of the rules, and you'll do fine. thats how the guys do it at my hometown track, and they go pretty good.

depending on the rules these guys may be right i know in our cruiser class we had a team win 40 out of 42 races one year the 2 were dnf's for flat tires they ran a 455 .even after they sold the car it still was winning so that being said they may just have some big hog's in there that are completly stock .myself i'd just get the biggest cu motor you can find re ring it and put a mild cam in there and like all the others said get that thing dailed in and you'll be fine. i've been down the handleing only road and yes it helped somewhat but more motor would have put me over the top. it doesn't help to pass them in the corner when they will just pull you like a train coming off
