Can anybody tell me the difference in horsepower between angle plug and straight plug on otherwise identicle heads. Like Dart for instance, if the heads were exactly the same except the angle plug vs straight plug what would be the horsepower difference. Going on streetstock if it matters.

thanks

depends on piston choice the angle plugs were used in dome piston applications for better flame travel, overall a small diff. but probably not enough to get exited about.

The best difference is that angle plug heads keep the plug wires away from the headers..
thanks

I have heard as much as 40 hp difference between angle and straight plug heads. Nobody seems to have a for sure answer though.

Back in the 70s when the first angle plug heads came out, they were said to make a 10HP difference by moving the flame closer to the exhaust valve. I think in the Darts it doesn't make a difference because the plug is moved closer to the ex valve in the casting. My 18* dart heads have straight plugs and are visably relocated.
