does anyone know what rod and piston combo to use if you put a 350 crank in a 307 block and would this combo work good for a 358ci max rule class

you can bore a 307 to 4"(stock 350) and use a slightly stroked crank for a 358 rule....

I was wrong on the crank spec as jay116 pointed out.the 307 was a 283 bore with 327 stroke.I doubt that you could safely bore a 307 out to 4",I think that you would not have much left for cylinder walls.

why not pick up a 350 out of your local paper for next to nothing???? they cost less to rebuild!

to bore a 307 to 4" would be .125 over thats pushing the cylinder walls. i got a 307 laying around thought might make a high rpm screamer with a 350 stroke and the small bore was wondering if anyone knew how to do it without spending lots of money otherwise you are right a 350 is cheeper

i see what your saying...i htought you was going to go out of your way to find a 307, and spend a few grand on something that a 1500 dollar 355 would hand ot it

Use a .030 307 block and a 400 crank in it with 400 rods and stock pistons for 307 .030 it should do the trick if you are under a 360 cu . in. rule.should be 359 cu.in.I have been trying to find some good pistons for this that are cheep for a claimer motor.I know the rods are not the best choice but it should be a torq.monster.

307s are old iron blocks and ARE bored out to 4 inch bore all the time. for that matter so are 283 blocks in order to make 302 motors.

You would use 327 pistons and crank to get 327 ,the 307 crank is the same stroke as 327 (3.25) . If you use 350 crank (3.48 stroke) you will need 350 pistons . rods are the same 5.7 long.So it will be a 350 or 327.
