Was wondering if you guy's could help me. I ran this chevy 350 bored 60 over all year. Very strong motor won couple of races. Had a head gasket leak some I took off the heads changed the gaskets and the car owner wanted to put another set of heads on the motor, so wew did. It ran great until the day of the the special that we went to. Here's the problem it runs strong but it shoot a light blue flame flame out of the left header and pop's when it does it. We were planning on taking everything apart and having everything checked but we have a $1000 to win stock car race left and I'm a guarenteed starter. So I have a week and a half to get this figured out! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like you've got a small pin hole in the exhaust on that side, or a crack. When you let off the gas, the cool air rushes in and creates the pop, and the flame is caused by unspent gasses, which is no big deal.

That does sound realalistic because I put a header gasket on the left side twice and always seem to have a leak in the center two exhuast holes. So I'll be alright then? Wont cause a problem with anything?

If it leaks enough, it could cause a problem. You might try 2 exhaust gaskets OR, instead of gaskets use some good RTV Sealant.

I wish we never even went the last race not really sure we're going this time but I don't want to end the season with a crashed car. I run diamondbacks with 1.76 tranny and 3.73 gears turning 7 g's. Everything you heard about the last race believe me is true. I like 5-mile and plan on running their next year with both the IMCA mod and the purestock but that race was a joke the way some of those gu'y were driving. Went home with both car's crashed. The Imca mod really had something for them and the purestock I needed alittle more motor for the 1st and 2nd place car. Need anymore info just pm me love to help!

i should be all set, afton as of right now is a nogo for us i heard they have quite a bit of snow on the ground and even if it melts for the fri-sat deal that place is going to be a mess and i like you can't see tearing the car up specially when i am building a new car for next season and some parts will be swapped. weather is looking nicer for next week so 5 mile looks like they will be ok. you wanna see a rough track on the weekend that you ran 5-mile we were at nur it rained for 45 min at 1pm one hour before start time, they waited it out s****ed prob a foot of clay off atleast and packed it in by 4 or so. was tackier than anything i have run on before which hurt me as i had to much bite in the car but the track was by far the roughest surface i have ever been on anywhere anytime, worse than the sun show at skyline back in may. it was like a cornfield and we ran first heats my back still hurts. with all the big guys down at 5mile and blackrock we had an what would have been an easy top 3 going with a little bit of work but it rained before the consis and they resched for the spring. they are only letting in the cars that were there no new ones so i guess come spring the new car will get it's first workout.that place is huge and fast i was running 3.08s and by the end of the straights the body felt and looked like it was going to take off plus there was a strong wind 15-30mph gusts heading up the backstraight as you came out of 2 it was like hitting a truck.
