Anybody using the fuel pump with the return line? I would think it might keep the fuel cooler. It would be always drawing fresh cool fuel. Looking for answers!

You will find very few CD players, ashtrays, sun visors, cup holders, radar detectors, pillows, spare wiper blades, Kleenexes, kiddie car seats, umbrellas, maps, flashlights, cans of "fixaflat", dash mounted statues of Jesus, or return line fuel pumps in dirt stock cars. I never really asked myself "why?".

That's the number for the Pierce Co. They make an awesome fuel pump. I have used them exclusivly for almost 10 years and have never had a failure. I "think" the person you will want to speak with is Marylin. Tell them you want a race pump that will hold 4-6lbs of fuel pressure. While you have them on the line, ask them "why?", then post that answer on here and we'll all know!

the why is because all that line is is a return line. on a race engine you will never have any fuel to return to the pump. only in a stop and go car.and if it did return fuel to the tank it would more than likely heat it up since fuel pump temp is normaly 220 degrees.

Why would you want a return line from the pump? Isn't it normally from your fuel through a regluator or a bypass to maintain pressure at the carburetor inlets. I also thought that mechanical block mounted pumps have a built in bypass.???????

Well it was something we used to run in minicup to prevent vapour lock as we only had about 2psi and it was hard to keep the fuel line from vapour locking as it moved so slowly through the fuel line. I mean we only used about 3/4 of a gallon for a 50 lap race! so I was kind of curious as I remember a 3/4 truck I had used a return line. I was told by my autoshop teacher it help to prevent vapour lock. Anyway you can see where i was going with this line of questions. I was always told "never a stupid question...only stupid answers"
