anyone know if a ceramic coating changes much by way of compresion and flame travel
or anything else?

My understanding is, It only reduces friction in the cylinder. Check this site and see if it answers your questions. Dave

An actual ceramic coating works quite well. We generally ceramic coat the heads of our pistons and the exhaust ports. This is done to reduce heat transfer into the coated parts. The anti-friction coatings on the skirts are good as well. this coating is simply does exactly as the name describes. We use Swain-Tech in New York.
