We recently purchased an engine out of Iowa.
It was run in an IMCA stockcar. It's a claimer. I need to know what the cam is and it has DW 2 stamped on it. Anyone have any info on this? Thanks

Sounds like you paid 425 to me, you can have the cam cam doctored if youve allready removed it.

or use a degree wheel mounted on the balancer and dial indicator and come out pretty close.

I would run it first to see if it even runs good enough to care what it is.

We ran it.It was ok,sorta. It's a 400 and didn't run as well as our 377. We ran it in a modified. I want the specs so I can at least get the lash correct and I want to know if it is correct for a lighter car. Probably ought to can it and go back to our Crower. Thanks anyway.

I don't know if you also live in Iowa. We have access in Dallas to a shop which regrinds cams. The regrinders can get pretty close to telling you what grind the cam is.

Dman, for lash you cant go too tight but can go too loose and hurt the cam.

Ive claimed one motor and swapped one and asked outright what to set the lash at, then checked them cold when I got home the next day to make sure I was told correctly.

If I had absolutely no idea where to set the lash I would go .016 cold - .020. If its a tight lash the 20 would be pushing close to too loose though.
