I am building a 355 ci motor. Will be Dart 200cc runner, 49cc chamber heads, solid cam, flat top pistons. Should be around 12.5:1 or so. We are restricted to a 2bbl Rochester carb. Would I be better of with running the 2v Victor Jr intake, or should I shoot for the 4bbl intake and mount the carb sideways? Anyone have expreiance with this?

This is a 3000lb car running a 1/2 mile with long straights and semi-tight corners. Guys are turning these motors WELL into the 7000 range. Getting off the corner is tough here, then you drag race down the straights. Any advice helps... Thanks!

It's a good question, one that I was trying to get an answer about myself a few years ago. Unfortunately, I never did get a straight answer or buy a 2V intake to test it myself. Here's the answers I got though: there is little if any advantage to the 2V intake over a 4 barrel with an adapter, if anything most motors will benefit from the larger plenum in the 4 barrel- Also I asked around about what direction is best to mount the carb for best distribution. I'm still curious about that one too, but have been led to believe that any advantage isn't worth the hassle. Wish I was ambitious to test those theories for myself. To date I'm running a holley strip dominator with a spacer/adaptor and my carb mounted a conventional way- I'm happy with it. Does anyone have any info that says there is an advantage any other way? I think me and cresswellracing would be all ears. Especially would the distribution be improved with the carb turned sideways? or would the bowl fuel level issues more than outweigh any positive effects from distribution? Anyone test this before?

thanks for the reply. I was wondering about the larger plenum area myself and was thinking I could still do some type of spacer to help out in the 2V situtation, but would it be worth it? Thanks again... Anyone else?
